My Story
About three years ago, I made the huge decision to make a major career change, starting with an evening internship after my day job, and then starting grad school shortly after that ended. This has involved changing to a very busy, long, and inconsistent schedule for the past three years. As a result, I’ve never been able to get back into a regular schedule of working out for more than a few weeks at a time, if that, and I’ve been eating terribly – eating out too much, grabbing fast food because it’s convenient. Breakfast sandwiches are my downfall! Since starting grad school, I’ve gained I think about 25 to 30 pounds, and I just don’t feel like myself in a lot of ways, which is really unfortunate, because career-wise, I finally feel like I’m where I need to be.
So, as the end of grad school was quickly approaching, I realized that I needed to do something about this – I will no longer be able to use school as an excuse. Also, because I will likely (hopefully!) never have a normal 9-5 job since I’m going into dramaturgy and theatre, I need to do this now so I can get thing under control, both weight and eating-wise, while I have the opportunity to get into a good healthy routine that I can stick with long-term.
I was first drawn to Beachbody through seeing commercials for some of their workouts on TV and thought they looked fun. But it wasn’t until October 2015, when my sister told me she was going to become a coach that I even knew the coaching opportunity or Shakeology, or a lot of other aspects of Beachbody, existed.
After a few weeks, and my sister telling me more about it as she learned more, I started to get intrigued because it seems like something that could work perfectly for where I am in my life right now. Beachbody offers me the flexibility of when and where I’m going to work out and also can offer a way to supplement my income as I begin a freelance theatre career, which is HUGE for me.
